Scott City wrestling doubles up Cimarron

Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–It was a final tuneup before regional competition on Thursday night for both Scott City and Cimarron at Scott Community High School. While there were only nine head to head matches wrestled, the homestanding Beavers took five of the nine matches, and doubled up the Bluejays 48-24 in front a of a big crowd. There were also 11 matches wrestled during the dual that featured youth from the Scott City Takedown Club and the Gray County Wrestling Club, that saw the future look good for both schools.

One senior for Scott City took the home mat for the final time. That was Jarret Jurgens at 160 pound, as he won by a second period fall. The Beavers won all five of their head to head battles by fall, while Cimarron’s four wins wrestled won by decision two times.

With the dual win, Scott City finished the season with a dual record of 9-0.

Both teams will compete at the Class 3-2-1A Regional Wrestling Tournament next Friday and Saturday, February 16-17 at the Max Jones Fieldhouse in Goodland.
