Scott City woman injured in two-vehicle accident

Scott Coumty, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–A Scott City woman was injured just after noon on Wednesday, after she attempted a u-turn south of Scott City on U.S. Highway 83.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol Report, 58-year-old Rachel H. Redburn was southbound in a 2013 Nissan Altima on U.S. Highway 83 six miles south on Scott City when she pulled over to the right onto the southbound emergency shoulder and attempted to do a u-turn. A southbound 2006 Kenworth semi driven by 53-year-old Larry M. Fitzgerald of Bertrand, Nebraska struck the Nissan during the u-turn.

Redburn and Fitzgerald were taken to Scott County Hospital for their injuries. A passenger in the Redburn vehicle, 28-year-old Casey T. Redburn of Scott City, was not injured.

All three in the accident were properly restrained, according to the KHP report.
