Kiowa, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–The nearly 230-mile trip to Kiowa for the Class 3-2-1A Regional Tennis meet was worth the trip for the Scott City Beaver tennis squad. At Friday’s regional, the Beavers knew they had a good shot at sending many of their members to state, and perhaps with a good draw, send the whole team. That’s what they did.

For the first time in school history, Scott City is sending all six players, two singles and two sets of doubles, to state tournament to be held in Wichita at the Riverside Tennis Complex on Friday and Saturday, May 11-12. The Beavers also won the meet, with a score of 20 points, seven better than runner-up Meade and nine better than Colby and Trego.

At Singles for Scott City, Joe Evans took home the regional title, and William Cupp had a third place finish. It was a third place finish for the doubles team of Chase Cupp/Porter Irwin and a fifth place finish for Miles Haire/Christian Wright.

Meade is taking Singles player Nolan Dewell, who placed fifth, and both of their doubles teams. The Doubles team of Gatlin Clawson/Walker Clawson won the regional, while Kamrin Jones/Jonathan Unruh placed sixth.

Cimarron got Singles player Ambrose Shaunghessy qualified for state, with a sixth place finish.
