Scott City volleyball wins GWAC title
Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–The Scott City Lady Beaver volleyball team had been close several times to winning a GWAC title. After being runner-up to Ulysses last year, the Lady Beavers were able to take the next step in winning their first-ever Great West Activities Conference title, sweeping each opponent on Saturday in Colby. They finished the GWAC slate at 10-0.
Scott City started the day off with a two-set win over Ulysses 25-15, 25-21, and turned around to knock off Goodland 25-18, 25-16. Later in the day, they would defeat Hugoton 25-14, 25-14, Holcomb 25-13, 25-19, and knocked off Colby in the finale 25-21, 25-20.
Scott City is 31-3 on the year, and will be the top seed in the Class 3A Sub-State Tournament on Saturday in Colby. Brackets will be released Wednesday.
