Scott City track sweeps team titles at 84th Scott City Relays

Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–Mondays rescheduled Scott City Relays was undoubtedly the warmest meet of the season. Eleven teams made their way to Scott City for the 84th Scott City Relays, as they make the turn to the final half of the regular season.

On the girls side, Scott City was the winner, pulling away toward the end, outlasting Colby by 24 points. It was the third win in the meet in the last four times. Paige Vulgamore had a big day, as she broke her own school record in the pole vault, going 11-6, and barely missing 12 feet. She was able to take the gold in the 300M Hurdles, and was close to being at the top in all four events.

For the boys, they would also pull away from a tight race. The Beavers ended up scoring a season high 140 points, 44 better than runner-up Colby. Isaac Tarango had a big day, sweeping the 100, 200, and 400 meter dashes, and was the anchor on the winning 4x400M Relay team. Wichita County’s Sheldon Whalen was dominant in sweeping the 110M High Hurdle, and 300M Hurdle races. It was Scott City’s fifth consecutive relays title.
