Scott City track goes 1st & second at Sterling, tennis 2nd at Hoisington

Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–Scott City saw two of their teams hit the road on Thursday, as the track squad went to Sterling in a recently added meet to the calendar, and the boys tennis team was able to pick up a meet at Hoisington.

Track & Field
For the track & field team, the boys would take home the team title and the girls placed second in the 14-team field. The Beaver boys took the Sterling Relays title, scoring 128 points, while Inman was second with 117.5. Isaac Tarango picked up wins in the 100M, 200M and 400M Dash and was on the winning 4x400M Relay team. Scott City’s girls were edged out by Sterling for the top spot, as the Lady Black Bears had 115 points, and the Lady Beavers finished with 108 points. Kennedy Holstein had a big day, winning the 400M Dash, was second in the 200M Dash, and was a part of the winning 4x400M and 4x800M Relay teams, and also Paige Vulgamore took individual wins in the Pole Vault and the 300M Low Hurdles, was fourth in the 100M High Hurdles, and was on the winning 4x400M Relay team.

Scott City will host the Scott City Relays on Monday.

Boys Tennis
Scott City would finish in a tie for second with Hoisington on Thursday at the Hoisington tennis meet. Central Plains was just ahead of the two schools with 17 points. The No. 1 Doubles Team of Dylan Duff/Sage Stoecklein would win the tiebreakers in a three-way tie for first place, while the No. 2 Doubles team of Kalo Hineman/Eric Shapland were in second place. Avry Noll was in a three-way tie for third place at No. 1 Singles and Houston Frank was third at No. 2 Singles.

Scott City will host their own invitational Friday afternoon, beginning at 1 pm.
