Scott City Tennis places second, third in Liberal
Liberal, Kansas (westernkansasnews.com)–It was a good start to the season for the Scott City Lady Beaver tennis team on Saturday, as they participated in the Liberal Invitational. The Beavers took two teams to Liberal, and finished in second and third place. Host school Liberal won the meet, while Liberal’s second team was in fourth and Meade took fifth.
On the Scott City “Blue” team, the No. 1 Doubles team of Alma Martinez and Krystal Appel placed first, while the No. 2 Doubles team of Christina Tilton and Melanie Tilton finished second. The No. 1 Singles player Ximena Ayala and No. 2 Singles player Karen Gonzalez came in third. The blue team came in third place.
As for the Scott City “White” team, they got second place finishes from their N0. 1 Doubles team of Karlee Logan and Emily Glenn, No. 1 Singles player Jennie Erven and No. 2 Singles player Kearston Buffington, and a third place finish from No. 2 Doubles team of Brynan Sherwood and Dallie Metheney. The white team finished second.
Up next for Scott City is the SCHS JV Tennis Meet Thursday, and a varsity trip to Hoisington on Tuesday, September 8.
