Scott City takes Hoxie Invitational

Hoxie, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–It’s a first for the Scott City Wrestling team on Saturday in Hoxie. Competing in their fifth straight Hoxie Invitational Tournament, the Beavers finally found their way to the top of the team standings. Scott City held off Plainville, Oakley and Oberlin to get off to a good start to the 2015-16 season. Cimarron finished fifth, while Lakin and Sublette were seventh and eighth respectively.

Individually, the Beavers took home four individual gold medals, three coming from freshman. They included Theron Tucker at 106, Jack Thomas at 132 and Wyatt Hayes at 152. Junior Tre Stewart won the 195 pound weight division. Also placing for Scott City was Zach Tucker finishing second at 120, Alex Depperschmidt second at 126, and Garrett Osborne was also second at 220. Placing third were Trey Loftis at 160, and Abe Wiebe at 170.
