Scott City splits doubleheader with Lakin

Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–On a beautiful Friday afternoon, Scott City would play host to Lakin in a battle of teams that could see each other in May in postseason play. Both teams would leave the day with a win, as the Beavers took the opener 13-8, before the Broncs would win 12-3 in the night cap.
Scott City 13, Lakin 8, Game 1
Scott City would pounce on the Broncs in the first inning with five runs, highlighted by a three-run home run by Avery Radke. The Beavers batted around and added two more. Costly errors in the second inning would allow the Broncs to rally and pull to within 5-4, and they would tie the game at 5 in the top of the third inning. Scott City would score a run in the bottom of the frame, and after it was tied at 6, they scored the next seven runs in the game and take a 13-6 lead through six innings. Lakin would close the game to 13-8 with two runs in the seventh and that would be the final.
Easton Eisenhour pitched the final 4 1/3 innings to pick up the wi, giving up three runs, one earned, on six hits with six strikeouts. Teagan Feely had two hits and drove in three runs, while Avery Radke had three RBI in the opener for the Beavers. Eloy Ruelas would go 2 2/3 innings, giving up five unearned runs on two hits. Jayden Johnson had three hits and drove in a run for Lakin. Armondo Salcido took the loss, giving up three runs on three hits and struck out four, as he went 2 2/3 innings.

Lakin 12, Scott City 3, Game 2
The big story of the game would be Lakin scoring multiple runs when they scored, and the walks that Scott City surrendered. The Broncs led 3-0 after the top of the first inning, and expanded their lead to 5-0 in the second, before the Beavers would tack on their first run. Lakin added two more runs in each the third and fourth inning, before another Scott City run. The Broncs wouuld not have a hit in the second and third innings. Both teams would be scoreless through the next two innings, as Lakin pushed three runs through in the seventh inning, and Scott City was only able to get one home, as the Broncs salvaged a split with a 12-3 win.
Enrique Ortega would have four RBI for the Boncs in the seocn game and Angel Davila had two hits and two RBI. Dru Patterson went four-plus innings on the mound, giving up two runs, one earned, on six hits, and had five strikeouts. Spencer Cramer took the loss, giving up five runs, four earned, in 1 1/3 innigs. Emilio Contreras had two hits and drove in a run for hte Beavers.

Scott City is 6-4 on the season and will host Colby for a doubleheader on Tuesday, while Lakin will face Elkhart at home on Tuesday.
