Scott City Qualifies Four For State Wrestling; Kough Regional Champ

Norton, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–Scott City qualified four wrestlers, and Wichita County will send two to Hays for the Class 3-2-1A State Wrestling Tournament Friday and Saturday. Norton won the 3-2-1A Regional held in Norton Friday and Saturday. The Blue Jays also qualified nine wrestlers, two more than runner-up Oberlin. Greeley County didn’t qualify anyone, but had one wrestler that was one match away from qualifying for state, as they finished their first wrestling season in 21 years. One area wrestler was in the finals. Alex Kough for Scott City was the regional champion at 126 pounds, and was also named Regional Wrestler of the Year, and Oberlin’s Joe Dreher was named Regional Coach of the Year.
