Scott City names Gentry Head Volleyball Coach
Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–In searching for a new volleyball coach, Scott City did not have to search far. In fact, they didn’t have to search too far. Former SCHS volleyball standout and former assistant Megan Gentry was approved Monday night at the USD 466 Board of Education Meeting to take the reigns of the Lady Beavers volleyball program.
Gentry reflects back on her high school playing days.
She talks about the decision on taking the head coaching position.
How about coaching her alma mater?
Gentry has served as the seventh grade volleyball coach the past two seasons and was a high school assistant in the 2010-11 seasons. Also approved as assistants at Monday’s board meeting were Ranae Baker and Ashley Geyer. Geyer served as the C-Team coach for SCHS during the 2013 season.
A 2001 graduate of Scott Community High School, Gentry was part of two state qualifying teams, placing fourth in 2000. She played for her aunt in high school Kyle Carroll. Following high school, Gentry moved on to play two years at Hutchinson Community College for the Blue Dragons. She replaces Jordan Dreiling, who’s resignation was accepted at the April board meeting after four seasons.
