Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–Scott City stays at home for the second time this week, as they will host the Colby Eagles tonight at Scott Community High School. Both teams will be playing their final games until the Paul Wintz/Tom Bowen Orange & Black Classic next Thursday through Saturday in Colby.

The girls game features a pair of teams struggling as of late. Colby enters with a 3-5 record overall, 1-3 in GWAC play after a loss of 60-24 to Holcomb last Friday night in Colby. They were without their senior star Haileigh Shull, who leads the team with 11 points a game, due to an injury suffered in the previous game at Goodland. She remains questionable for tonight. Scott City has dropped three straight, and are 1-5 overall and 0-3 in league play entering tonight’s game, as they fell to Holcomb Tuesday night 65-27. Bailey Nickel remains the top point scorer for the Lady Beavers, averaging around 17 points and nine rebounds a game.

In the finale of the night, it’s two teams that are heading in opposite directions. Colby is looking for their first win of the season, as they are 0-8 overall, and 0-4 in the Great West Activities Conference, after their setback of 62-25 last Friday night. The Eagles are also under a first year coach in Kevin Brown, as he has a senior-oriented staring lineup, led by Cameron Brown and four-year starter Luke Cox. Scott City rides in with a five-game winning streak, after their 73-53 win over Holcomb Tuesday night to take sole possession of first place in the league with a 3-0 record. The Beavers are now 5-1 on the season, and saw four players reach double figures in the win. Trey O’Neil leads the Scott City attack with nearly 25 points and five assists a game.

Tipoff for the girls is at 6:30, with the boys to follow. Pre-game coverage on Mix 94 is at 6 pm, and online at westernkansasnews.com. Games can also be heard on your smartphone, via the TuneIn app by searching Mix 94.
