Goodland, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–After Friday night’s games, both Scott City and Goodland reached the midway point of their respective GWAC schedules. In their final games of January, the Goodland Cowgirls took the first game 48-14, while the Scott City boys took the finale of the night 87-40.

It’s been the same story the last two games for Scott City (3-9, 0-5 GWAC). For the second straight game, the Lady Beavers were unable to connect on a first quarter field goal, and trailed 17-1 at the end of the first quarter. At one point of the first half, Goodland (8-6, 3-2) built a 25-point lead at 28-3, and would eventually take a 31-8 lead into the locker room. While the Cowgirls saw their scoring slow down in the third quarter, the Lady Beavers were unable to chip into the deficit. The closest they got in the second half was 22, then Goodland scored the final nine points of the period to take a 44-13 lead into the final period. Due to the 30-point league rule in the final quarter, scoring was at a minimum, and the Cowgirls rolled on to the 48-14 win. Ten different Goodland players scored, as they were led by Margaux Thompson with 11 points. Scott City had six players score, as Madison Orr led them with four points.
