Scott City girls tennis claims regional championship
Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–For the first time in at least three decades, Scott City was able to host a regional tennis meet. For the host Beavers, it would turn out to be a big weekend, as they were able to come away with the regional championship at the tennis courts at Scott City Middle School. It was their second consecutive regional title. Colby would finish second in the regional standings.
This year, only the top four would qualify for the state meet. In recent years, each regional qualified the top six placers.
The Lady Beavers were able to qualify five members, including Laia Mur at Singles, and the two Doubles teams of Sadie Hermosillo/Bella Myers and Rhiley Stoppel/Madison Westergard.
The Class 3-2-1A State Tennis meet will take place on Friday and Saturday, October 16-17 in Wichita, at Riverside Tennis Complex.
