Scott City girls second, boys fourth at Lakin cross country invite
Lakin, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–Saturday’s Lakin Invitational would be a good trial run of the course the Scott City cross country teams would run for regionals in two weeks. The competition was good as well, as the girls would take a second place finish as a team, and the boys would place fourth overall.
Starting with the girls, Stanton County won the meet with 35 points, while Scott City was second with 59 and Cimarron was third with 88. The Lady Beavers would place two in the top 10, as Emma Wheeler placed sixth in a time of 21:44.60, and Brinlie Stevens was seventh with a time of 21:46.00. Clare Hawkins finished 15th with a time of 22:18.90, Kairae Berry was 17th (22:28.90), Megan Vance 20th (22:39.20), Macy Brown 22nd (22:52.50) and Kate Rogers was 47th (25:25.10)
For the boys, Guymon won the meet with 41 points, while Stanton County was second with 85 points, Lakin was third with 93 and Scott City placed fourth out of 11 teams with 94. Roberto Apodaca led the way for Scott City with a seventh place finish in a time of 17:47.20 and Jaxson Kough finished 11th with a time of 18:02.40. Aaron Armendariz was 22nd (18:25.50), Kevin Dominguez-Peregrino 29th (18:34.40), Bryndan Bailey 31st (18:51.10), and Dylan Duff finished in 46th place with a time of 20:04.70.
Scott City will run at the Great West Activities Conference meet in Goodland on Thursday.
