Scott City football poised to continue the tradition
Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–The Scott City football team has been one of the top programs in the state of Kansas over the last 30 years. While there are some new faces in new positions, there are still plenty of returning starters on both sides of the ball from a team that went 10-1 in 2018.
Around 58 kids make up of the 2019 Beaver football team, that’s not had a sub-.500 season since 1986.
Jim Turner begins his fourth season as the head coach, and his 25th season in the program. For the third straight season, the coaching staff will remain the same. Assistants include Landon Frank, Brian Gentry, Dakota Hayes, Michael McEachern and Todd Richardson.
Scott City starts the season at home for two straight Fridays, then will hit the road for three straight weeks for the first time since 2009, and will close the season with two out of their final three games at home. For a second straight year, they will have a six-team district, with Beloit, Colby, Concordia, Goodland, and Russell in their district.
