Scott City boys, Ulysses girls win Ron Smith Invitational titles

Ulysses, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–Over two days, Ulysses hosted the Ron Smith Invitational, with the girls taking the mat on Friday and the boys on Saturday.

On Friday, Ulysses was able to take the team title, as they beat Garden City for the top spot. The Lady Tiges were led by Yosselin Delgato, won won at 100 pounds, Lyla Eddie won at 115 and Jeymi Rosales was the winner at 125. Wichita County had a pair of champions with Jentri Porter at 105 and Angela Berreras at 135

On Saturday, the boys took the mat, where Scott City repeated as tournament champions. The Beavers would get individual titles from Trenton Frank at 126, Alex Rodriguez at 132, Matthew Wheeler at 150, Waylon Ricker at 157, Blaze Gossman at 165 and Easton Eisenhour at 175. Ulysses was second as Jaxon Salinas was the champion at 144 and Emilio Guzman won at 285. Hugoton placed third with titles from Isaiah Peachey at 113 and Talon Grubbs at 190. Holcomb’s Haegan Hartman took the 132-pound weight division.
