Scott City boys 3A champs, girls 7th at State Track & Field Championships
Wichita, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–Scott City’s boys track team has dealt with plenty of adversity throughout the year, and even at state. They were able to withstand all the adversity, and show their depth, as they dominated the field at the State Track & Field Championships at Cessna Stadium. The Beavers won the meet by 29 points, scoring 74, while Garden Plain was second with 49. Lakin cracked the top 10 by placing 10th with 22 points. Cimarron finished with 14 points, and Southwestern Heights had six. It was Scott City’s second state title in three years, and the third straight year they’ve finished in the top three. They were third in 4A last year.
On the girls side, the Lady Beavers led the area with a seventh place finish. Nemaha Central cruised to a big win, scoring 77 points to win 3A, while Sterling was second with 46.5 and Beloit finished third with 40.5. Cimarron had 16 points and Lakin finished with 11.
