Scott City Baseball Drops Games to Great Bend, TMP-Marian
Great Bend, KS (westernkansasnews.com)–Taking the field for the first time in 11 days, the Scott City Beavers had a tough go of it on Tuesday in Great Bend, dropping two games in triangular, losing the first game to Great Bend 3-2 and the second to TMP-Marian 7-2.
In their first outing of the day, Scott City had the lead of 1-0, and then 2-0 heading into the bottom of the fifth inning against Great Bend. The Panthers would score all three of their runs, all unearned and that would prove to be the difference. Kite took the loss for the Beavers, as he struck out seven, and surrendered two hits in six innings of work.
Game two for Scott City saw the Beavers face a familiar foe in TMP-Marian. The Beavers swept the Monarchs by 3-2 scores three weeks prior to Tuesday, but TMP would prevail this time around. Brett O’Neil had two of the teams four hits in the game, and scored one run. Drew Kite and Austin Habiger picked up an rbi each. O’Neil went five-plus innings, giving up seven runs, two earned on four hits and struck out 11 in his first start of the year.
With the losses, the Beavers drop to 4-4 on the season. TMP-Marian lost to Great Bend 8-0 in the other game. The Monarchs are 4-4 on the season, and Great Bend is 6-0. Up next for Scott City is a doubleheader in Hoisington next Tuesday.
