SCHS girls tennis 2nd at Hoisington, girls golf 4th at Goodland

Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–Coming off the Labor Day holiday on Monday, the Scott City girls tennis and golf teams returned to competition, as the tennis was in Hoisington and golf was in Goodland.

For the girls tennis team, it was their first varsity competition in 17 days, as they finished second at the Hoisington Invitational. Central Plains won the meet with 32 points, while Scott City had 26 in the six-team tournament. Leading the way were the doubles teams, as the No. 2 Doubles team of Rhiley Stoppel/Madison Westergard finished first, while the No. 1 Doubles team of Sadie Hermosillo/Bella Myers was second. In No. 1 Singles, Malorie Cupp placed third, and Brynna Burnett was fourth in No. 2 Singles. Up next is the Phillipsburg Invitational on Tuesday.

As for girls golf, the Lady Beaver team competed in the Goodland Invitational at Sugar Hills. Scott City finished in fourth place, with a score of 467. Colby won the meet with a team score of 389, followed by Cimarron with 447, and Goodland with 448. Tori Ford led the way for the Lady Beavers with a score of 112, which put her in 12th place, Emma Wheeler finished 14th with a round of 113, while Hannah Faurot was 21st with a score of 118, Brylie Bennett was 25th with a score of 124, Jayden Him shot a 125, good for 27th, and Shelby Lisenby was 29th with a score of 126. Scott City will compete at the Cimarron Invitational on Thursday.
