SCHS girls golf hits the links

Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–The 2018 SCHS girls golf team will have only two players this year. There is good news, however, that both players are sophomores. Since there are only two members, the team will not be able to compete in team races, but instead, look to improve on their golf game as the season progresses.

Only one golfer returns to the links this year in sophomore Paige Prewit. Prewit worked her way to the varsity by the end of the year, and looks to build upon that experience. First year golfer Olivia Wagner joins her on the squad, who also has a new coach. Amy Ricker takes over as the head coach for the girls program, replacing Rebecca Downing, who coached the team the previous three years. This is the fourth year of the return of the program, who has had one golfer qualify for state since its return.

Tournament play starts up on Thursday, August 30.
