School Budgets: Dodge Finalizes Theirs, Garden Seeks Some Help
(westernkansasnews.com) The school board at USD 443 in Dodge City has approved their budget for the year. District Director of Business Operations Bill Hammond says with state funding for education in limbo it was very difficult to come up with a final proposal.
Still, Hammond is pleased the budget keeps the school boards promise not to raise the mill levy.
For USD 457 in Garden City they will request a little more than 600-thousand dollars of four million dollars in state funds to help prop up their local option budget. Both districts are expecting an increase in enrollment for the school year, money not covered by the state’s new block grant funding model.
