School Board Discusses Giving Police Traffic Enforcement at GCHS

Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) The School Board at USD 457 has postponed a vote until next month that would have given police authority to write tickets on the grounds at Garden City High School. District spokesman Roy Cessna explains the problem.

There’s concern with reports that students are riding on top of cars and a child was even hit by a car just a couple of weeks ago.  The resolution would give police the power to pull over drivers and ticket them if necessary. A delay in acting allows board members the opportunity to hear more.

The next meeting is January 12th.
