Sandra Jeanette Williams
Sandra Jeanette Williams, 73, went to be with the Lord on April 12, 2016 at Trinity Manor Nursing Home, Dodge City. She was born on November 27, 1942 at Albia, Iowa the daughter of Homer Ray and Agnes Lennea (Carlson) Stewart.
Sandy attended Pleasant Point Country School in Bluff Creek Township and was a graduate of Albia High School in Albia, Iowa. She first worked at the Albia Hy-Vee Grocery store as a check out teller. Later she owned and operated the Sears Appliance and Catalog store in Albia, Iowa. She also worked at Monroe County Farm Bureau as a secretary.
Later Sandy moved to Newton, Iowa and worked for an Edward Jones office. She loved the weather in Dodge City, where two of her sons and sister lived, so she transferd to the Edward Jones office in Dodge City. Sandy retired as office manager in 2007.
The flower gardens that she created were her “pride and joy”, especially her irises and day lilies. One of her latest pleasures was starting the “Over the Garden Gate” garden club in 2015. Sandy was very proud that the club now has over 30 members.
She enjoyed many crafts such as mosaics, creating jewelry and painting. Her latest project was helping the garden club and family make 60 beautiful wind chimes from beads.
Sandra is survived by three sons, Larry Williams and wife Peggy of Dodge City, Denny Williams and wife Jayne of Belle, Missouri, and Bob Williams and wife Amy of Blairsville, Georgia; three grandsons, Clay Williams and wife Stacey of Locust Grove, Georgia, Zachary Williams of Young Harris, Georgia, and Adam Williams of Blairsville, Georgia; a brother, Wayne Stewart and wife Bonnie of Platte City, Missouri; and two sisters, Janice Schroeder and husband Wayne of Dodge City and Irene Lathen and husband Mike of Albia, Iowa.She was preceded in death by her parents; infant brother, Larry James; and grandparents, Warner and Anna Carlson, Jennie Lennie and Ernest Stewart.
Memorial service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Dick Robbins presiding. There will be no public visitation as cremation has taken place.
