Sales Tax Proposal Passes, election results for Finney County
Garden City, KS(westernkansasnews.com) The proposed .3 percent sales tax to fund several projects in Finney County passed with 56.8 percent of the vote on Tuesday. The sales tax will go into affect on April 1 2018.
In the Garden City Commissioners race Troy Unruh(21 percent), Melvin Dale(19.6 percent) and Lindsay Byrnes(17 percent) were the three elected.
For the Garden City School Board Jean Clifford(28.3 percent), Tim Hanigan(23.7 percent) and Lara Bors(17.8 percent) were the three chosen.
For the Garden City Community College Board of Trustees Merilyn Douglass(27.3 percent), Leonard Hitz(23.6 percent) and Blake Wasinger(18.2 percent) edged out David Rupp by 11 votes.
