He was born October 3, 1949 at Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Norman J. and Zona (Russell) Luken. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Germany. He washed dishes at several restaurants, worked in sales barns as well as in the Deli at Wal-Mart. He was a baseball card collector and avid reader. 

Survivors include: 2 sisters, Norma Hiskey, Colorado and Lorraine Luken, Dodge City; a brother, Phillip Luken, Marysville, Kansas; and a half-sister, Zelda Robins, Texas. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Zelda Luken and a brother, Noel Luken. 

Services will be announced at a later date. 

The family suggests memorials to the Russell Luken Memorial Fund in care of Ziegler Funeral Chapel, 1901 N. 14th Ave., Dodge City, Kansas 67801.
