Rowena Huff, 95, died March 21, 2016 at her home in Dodge City. She was born on September 3, 1920 in Lyons, the daughter of William Frank and Irene (Worth) Temple.

Rowena attended Mitchell School in Rice County thru the eighth grade. She then went on to Lyons High School, graduating in 1937. Rowena worked as a telephone operator in Lyons. On June 22, 1948, she married Paul N. Huff in Dodge City. He preceded her in death on April 1, 1991. After their marriage, they made their home in Dodge City. Rowena worked at Northwest School in the cafeteria and also at the Welcome Inn Motel both in Dodge City. Her most important job was taking care of her family. She will be remembered for many things including, her telling of jokes to everyone, her love of crocheting and word puzzles and most of all her faith.

She was a member of the First Christian Church of Dodge City.

Rowena is survived by a daughter, Valerie Powers of Hutchinson; three step daughters, Jeanette Stick and husband Keith of Wichita, Leona Kobe also of Wichita, and Karen Parker of Wichita Falls, Texas; 10 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; and lots of extended family. Rowena was always “always adopting” somebody into her family. In addition to her husband Paul, she is preceded in death by her parents and a son, Forrest Holdeman.

Graveside service will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at 11:00 AM with Mr. Richard Crockett presiding. Friends may sign the guest book at Swaim Funeral Home in Dodge City on Thursday, March 24, 2016 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
