Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–It’s been a while since Scott City and Ulysses took the court, and tonight, they renew their rivalry for the second and final time this year at Scott Community High School. The Beavers have not played since last Friday in Liberal, while the Tiger boys last played 10 days ago in Garden City, and the Lady Tigers 13 days ago in Coffeyville

The first game features a game where Ulysses pulled away in the fourth quarter, and took down Scott City 37-28 December 20 in Ulysses. It was a low scoring game by each quarter, as the Lady Tigers led 11-4 after one and 17-16 at half, and used a 17-8 fourth quarter run. In the first game Jessi Arnold had 14 for Ulysses, and Bailey Nickel had 10 for the Lady Beavers. Scott City fell 38-24 to Liberal last Friday, and dropped to 2-10 on the season. The Lady Beavers pulled to within five midway through the final period, only to see the Lady Redskins score the games final nine points. Ulysses is 5-9 on the season, and have not played since taking third place in the Interstate Classic in Coffeyville January 25, where they defeated Rose Hill 57-47.

In the finale, the Beaver boys started off hot shooting in the first quarter back on December 20 against Ulysses, leading 24-10, before coasting to the 53-32 win. Trey O’Neil finished with 26 points in that game for the Beavers, while Tregg Rodriguez led the Tigers with 11. Scott City comes into tonight on an 11-game win streak, and are 11-1 on the season. Last Friday night, the Beavers had to rally from an eight-point first half deficit to knock off Liberal 52-46 at the Big House in Liberal. Things have been different for the Tigers, as they are 6-8 on the season, and were pounded by Garden City on the 28th of January 54-23, and scored a season-low in that game. Ulysses is in a stretch where they have lost five of their last six games, with their lone win coming in the seventh place game of the Interstate Classic in Coffeyville January 25 over Wright Christian, Oklahoma 58-36.
