Robert Lynn “Baby Buffalo” Rowley, 64 of Holcomb, Kansas died Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at his home in Holcomb, Kansas.

He was born October 8, 1948 in Hoisington, Kansas the son of Robert G. & Darlene (Phillips) Rowley. Robert grew up in Hoisington where he attended school and graduated from high school in 1966. He then attended Emporia State University before graduating from Salina Area Vo-Tech in 1968. He moved to Lyons, Kansas where he constructed landing gear for Boeing. Robert then moved to Holcomb in 1970 where he has lived since. While living in Holcomb, Robert first worked for W. L. Hartman Oil Co. He then owned and operated his own trucking company before becoming owner and operator of Rowley Pump Service. Robert was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church; the American Petroleum Institute; and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles where he served 2 terms as president and also served as a trustee. Robert enjoyed golfing, fishing, and hunting.

On August 13, 1976, Robert married Arlene Rupp in Syracuse, Kansas. She survives. Other survivors include four children Richard & Bianca Rowley of Ingolstadt, Germany; Daena & Clifford Brown of Gatesville, Texas; Julie & Curt Nemechek of Holcomb, Kansas; and Wayne & Kelly Combs of Garden City, Kansas; his father Robert G. Rowley of Lakin, Kansas; a sister Becky & David Sells of Wilson, Kansas; and twelve grandchildren. Robert is preceded in death by his mother and a brother-in-law LeRoy Rupp.

Vigil service and rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 23, 2013 at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City.

Funeral Service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Garden City.

Graveside Service will be at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, August 26, 2013 at Deerfield Cemetery in Deerfield, Kansas. Interment will be at Deerfield Cemetery in Deerfield, Kansas.

The family requests memorials given to the Robert Lynn Rowley Memorial Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City.
