Robert Duane Stith
Robert Duane Stith, 80, died January 23, 2016 at Hays Medical Center, Hays, Kansas. He was born on November 7, 1935 at Dodge City, the son of Howard R. and Bernese (Webb) Stith.
Mr. Stith was involved with several business ventures in Dodge City. He was owner and operator of Bob Stith Antiques, Dodge City. He was one of three individuals who were responsible in the restoration of the historic Lora-Locke Hotel in Dodge City. He also built and operated the Golden Bell Motel and Pancake House in Dodge City. He was an avid collector of all things related to the wild west. He was a licensed pilot and enjoyed his time flying. He was also a rodeo enthusiast.
Survivors include his children, son Craig Stith and wife Linda, Dodge City, daughters Sherri Johnson and husband George, Duncan, Oklahoma; Cheryl Stith, Bullhead City, Arizona; his mother Bernese Stith, Dodge City, sister, Margaret Clark, Wichita, four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father Howard R. Stith.
Private graveside services will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 with George Johnson presiding. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorials are suggested to Ford County Humane Society in care of Swaim Funeral Home, 1901 6th Avenue, Dodge City, Kansas, 67801.
