Robert Dean “R.D.” “Bob” Lowrance
Robert Dean “R.D.” “Bob” Lowrance, 90 died Thursday, March 24, 2016 at Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City. He was born August 27, 1925 on the family farm near Skidmore, Missouri the son of Homer Lowrance, Sr. and Verda (Owens) Lowrance.
Bob grew up in the Skidmore, Missouri area where he attended school. He served in the United States Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theatre from 1942 to 1945. In the mid 1970’s, he moved to Garden City where he owned and operated LOBO Cattle Co. Later in the early 1990’s he moved to Bartlesville, Oklahoma where he owned and operated Smoke Rise Ranch. He returned back to Garden City in 2015. A lifetime cattleman, Bob was also a farmer, rancher, commodity trader, and feed lot owner. He enjoyed making a deal and as an old school businessman his word was as good as gold. He was a member of the American Legion of Skidmore, Ok.
Survivors include a daughter Janet Lowrance of Garden City, Ks.; a son Mark & wife Suzanne Lowrance of Garden City, Ks.; and a granddaughter Christina & husband Nate Rice of Maryville, Missouri. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter Sherry Grahl; a brother Homer Lowrance, Jr.; and a grandson Rob Lowrance.
Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 27 at the home of Mark and Suzanne Lowrance, 637 Briar Hill Drive in Garden City. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at the Price Funeral Home in Maryville, Missouri. Burial will follow at the Groves Cemetery near Maitland, Missouri. The family request memorials given to the Western Kansas Low Vision Foundation in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City.
