Identity Released of Wednesday Morning Traffic Fatality
Dodge City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) State troopers have released the name of an accident victim who died from a collision shortly before 1:30 Wednesday morning on US 50 eight miles west of Dodge City. 33 year old Sarah Avila of Holcomb died when her Honda for an unknown reason drifted left of center and met a semitruck head on going the opposite way.
After the collision, Avila who was not wearing a seatbelt was ejected from her vehicle while the semi burst into flames. The driver of the semi 39 year old Scott Anderson of McPherson was taken to Western Plains Medical Center. US 50 reopened around 3:30 Wednesday afternoon after being closed a little more than 14 hours.
