Richard Lotton, 80 of Garden City, Kansas died Friday, September 27, 2013 at St. Catherine

Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. He was born February 7, 1933 in Fowler, Kansas the son of Harry Kent & Evelyn Virginia (Phillips) Lotton. Richard lived most of his life in Garden City, Kansas. He attended Garden City schools and graduated from Garden City High School in 1951. He served in the United States Army from December 1, 1953 to May 17, 1956. After the service, Richard earned his Bachelor’s degree in Forestry from Ft. Hays State University. He began working for Dillons while living in Hays, Kansas.

After 49 years, Richard retired from Dillons in 1995, working mostly in management. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Garden City and the American Legion. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, and he loved spending time with his dog “Bella.” While attending Ft. Hays State University, Richard was a collegiate All-American in track.

On August 25, 1957, Richard married Barbara Jean Hessman in Dodge City, Kansas. Shesurvives. Other survivors include three children Pam & husband Darrell Rehmert of Eufaula, Ok., Kelly & wife Laurie Lotton of Houston, Tx., and Becky & husband Jim Lanier of Phillipsburg, Ks.; two sisters Peggy Stoops of Springfield, Mo., and Debbie Fleitz of Wichita, Ks.; and four grandchildren A.J. & wife Deanna Lanier of Valley Center, Ks., Taylor Lotton of Houston, Tx., Samantha Rehmert of Eufaula, Ok., and Morgan Wingerter of Houston, Tx. Richard is preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters Linda and Patty.

Visitation: 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday and from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City.

Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 01, 2013 at First Baptist Church in Garden City,Kansas with Pastor Mary Fabin officiating.

Interment: Valley View Cemetery in Garden City with military rites conducted by the Garden City area Veterans.

The family requests memorials given to St. Catherine Hospice in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City.
