Richard Lee Harris, age 79, passed away suddenly April 18, 2015 at his home. Per his request there will be no memorial service.  

Richard was born March 25, 1936 to Merle and Thelma Harris in Hugoton, Kansas where he lived most of his life. He served in the United States Army. He was a carpenter by trade and an artist by nature. To most of his friends he was known by “Dick”. He was an avid sportsman, he loved to fish and hunt. If you couldn’t find him at home check the local fishing hole.

He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Jessie-Fay; his wife, Andrea; the mother of his three children, Louise; two infant daughters; and a grandson, Seth Adam Clark.

Survivors include one son, Richard Gentry Harris and wife Carmen of Springfield, Missouri; two daughters, Heather Smith and husband Ron of Amarillo, Texas, and Wendy Harris of Liberal, Kansas; three grandsons, Zack Harris of Amarillo, Texas, Link Andrew Hampton of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Brock Smith and wife Amy of Colorado Springs, Colorado; one granddaughter, Tori Smith of Honolulu, Hawaii; three great-grandchildren, Jackson, Julian, and Brooklyn; and many other friends.

He will be deeply missed by all of those that knew him. Arrangements are in care of Garnand Funeral Home, PO Box 854, Elkhart, KS 67950.
