Richard Eugene Torline

Richard Eugene Torline, 91, died February 14, 2017 at Manor of the Plains Nursing Home in Dodge City. He was born on December 2, 1925 in the Wheatland Township of Ford County, the son of Fred and Frances (Heeke) Torline. 

Richard was a lifetime resident of Ford County. He completed his education at Windthorst High School, graduating in 1943. After graduation, Richard enlisted in the United States Army. He served in the Army during World War II from July 26, 1945 to January 23, 1947. He returned home to the family farm and began a career in farming. 

He was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church at Windthorst, the Knights of Columbus, and the VFW Post 5984 of Spearville.

Richard is survived by many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, John, Joe, Irvin, Jerome, and Clay Torline; and three sisters, Eva Torline, Josephine Stein, and Sister M. Modesta.

Funeral Mass will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Windthorst on Monday February 20, 2017 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Ted Skalsky presiding. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery at Windthorst with military rites by Howard Gotschall Post #1714 V.F.W. and KSARNG Military Honors. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home in Dodge City on Sunday February 19, 2017 from noon to 7:00 PM. Vigil service will be at the funeral home on Sunday, February 19, 2017 at 7:00 PM.
