Richard E. Roenfeldt

Richard E. Roenfeldt, 83, died April 10, 2015 at his home in Dodge City. He was born on September 21, 1931 in Dodge City, the son of Rudolph and Rosena (Dirks) Roenfeldt. 

Richard was born and raised on a farm south of Dodge City. He attended Dodge City schools and graduated from Dodge City High School. Richard farmed and retired from the US Postal Service. On June 11, 1950, Richard married Doris Lembright in Dodge City. She preceded him in death on February 28, 1985. Richard later married Lorena Roth Biernacki on December 28, 1985 in Dodge City. She survives. 

After retirement, Richard enjoyed playing golf and traveling in his motor home. He was an avid reader, enjoyed watching sports, working in the garden, and spending time with his grandchildren. He loved spending winters in his home in Arizona for many years. 

He was a member of the Christ the King Lutheran Church of Dodge City and served on the board for many years. 

Survivors include his wife, Lorena Roenfeldt of Dodge City; children, Dr. Richard L. Roenfeldt (Lynn) of Dodge City, Elaine Morrison (Tom) and Connie Deines (Marvin) all of Greeley, Colorado; stepchildren, Steve Biernacki (Karen) of Farmington, New Mexico, Stan Biernacki (Kristie) Bothell, Washington, Rick Biernacki (Jenny) of Lewisville, Texas, Randy Biernacki (Brenda) of Flower Mound, Texas, Debra Geissler (Brad) of Littleton, Colorado, and Connie Delzeit (Doug) of Bluff Dale, Texas; brother, Verne Roenfeldt (Jean) of Aurora, Colorado; seven grandchildren; 17 step grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and 13 step great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Doris Roenfeldt and his parents. 

Memorial service will be held at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Dodge City on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at 10:00 AM with Pastor Chris Conner presiding. Inurnment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Friends may sign the book at Swaim Funeral Home on Monday, April 13, 2015 from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with the family receiving friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
