Richard “Bubba” Hixon

Richard “Bubba” Hixon, Jr., 27, died Wednesday, March 29, 2017 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in rural Gray County. 

He was born March 7, 1990 at Goshen, Indiana, the son of Richard and Melody (William) Hixon, Sr. An Ensign resident since 2013, moving from Cimarron, Kansas, he was a feed truck driver for Midwest Feeders and previously worked in maintenance for PrideAg. He was a volunteer firefighter for the Gray County Fire Department. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and riding his dad’s motorcycle. He loved fire fighting, county music and especially his family. 

Survivors include: his daughter, Nariah Hixon, Ensign, Kansas ; his step-son, Samuel Allen, Garden City, Kansas ; his parents, Dodge City; and 2 brothers, Riley Hixon and Jesse Hixon both of Dodge City; grandmother, Delores Bernash, Ashland, Kansas, several aunts, uncles and cousins. 

He was preceded in death by grandparents, E.C. William and Geraldine William, Burton, Kansas, grandfather, Clayton Bernash, Ashland, Kansas, several aunts, uncles and cousins. 

Memorial services will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at Ziegler Funeral Chapel with Pastor Rosie Gallardo officiating. There will be no public viewing, cremation has taken place. Friends may sign the register from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Tuesday at Ziegler Funeral Chapel.
