Resurfacing underway in Meade County
Meade, Kan (WesternKansasNews.Com) – Traffic changes are scheduled to start today, Tuesday, June 7, along U.S. 54 from the east city limits of Meade to the Meade/Clark county line, according to the Kansas Department of Transportation.
U.S. 54 traffic will be reduced to one lane through the project area. Motorists should be aware of delays of up to 15 minutes as one-lane traffic will be directed by flaggers and a pilot car through the work zone. The lane reduction will be marked by signs and cones. When construction is not taking place, U.S. 54 will be open to normal traffic.
This project consists of a half-inch milling of existing pavement and a 1.5-inch hot mix of asphalt overlay on the driving lanes. Centerline rumble stripes will be installed on the center line and shoulders. New permanent pavement markings and rock edge wedge will be applied along the roadway near the conclusion of the project.
Venture Corporation, of Great Bend, is the contractor on this $4.2 million project, which is expected to be completed by the end of August, weather permitting.
