Representatives Push For Availability of Emergency School Funding

state-flag-kansas

Lakin, KS (westernkansasnews.com) Area schools were able to tap into an emergency fund set aside by the state in recouping three million dollars from loss property valuation. If it had not been for the efforts of State Representative John Doll and Russ Jennings these districts may not have seen anything at all from the State Finance Council.

Here was Jennings greatest concern.

The good news is all the school district that received money will get sizeable property tax relief. Unfortunately with no changes to school funding this appeal for money may also occur next year.

One other note State House Representative John Ewy of Jetmore is being moved from the education to transportation committee.  Ewy calls the news “disappointing”.
