(Montezuma, KS) The standoff in Montezuma ended Monday morning about 10:30. KBI Special Agent in charge Doug Younger says his department was asked to assist early Monday after Gray County sheriff’s deputies received a call of a man wanted to do harm to himself and others.

KBI agents talked with the man for 3 1/2 to 4 hours before it was decided to use tear gas in flushing the suspect from his home. It was determined no one was with the suspect during the standoff.  He was arrested on two prior felony warrants in Gray County. Schools were called off Monday in both Montezuma and Copeland out of concern for the safety of students on their way to class.
