Red Stocking Breakfast raises over $5,000

KCSL2

GARDEN CITY, Kan. — The Kansas Children’s Service League’s annual Red Stocking Breakfast was a huge success this past Sunday at the Clarion Inn in Garden City. The organization raised $5,137 for the three-hour event. Every penny will go towards helping local programs that the KCSL offers.

Nearly 200 people attended the event, about 75 more than the attendance in Liberal for the same Red Stocking Breakfast event.

“We feel the event went over better than we could have expected,” KCSL grant development manager Cecilia Douglass said. “The weather was forgiving, the food was plentiful and we were very satisfied with how much this event has grown since making its quiet comeback last year.”

The KCSL plans on having the event next year and will plan on making it bigger and better.

“It seems like you learn more and more each event you do,” Douglass said. “The goal for next year is to make it better than this year and just keep improving over the years. That’s all you can ask for when running an event.”
