Red Demons Still Have A Lot at Stake in Hatchet Game

vlcsnap-2015-10-30-13h55m30s124

Dodge City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) The Dodge City Red Demons were eliminated from playoff contention in last week’s loss at Hutch.  Still the Red Demons (4-4, 3-0 WAC) can win the Hatchet and capture their first WAC championship since 2010 with a win on the road at (7-1, 3-0 WAC) Garden City.

Red Demon Head Coach Dave Foster believes his team is highly motivated to end the season on a high note.

Perhaps senior Quarterback Caden Walters has the biggest motivation of all as he watch the end of last year’s Hatchet game on the sideline after breaking his thumb in the second quarter.  Garden City went on to win 32-14.

The one area where Dodge City has excelled this year is developing a more consistent running game.  Tyler Trent enters with 1,056 yards on the ground, the first Red Demon in 10 years to rush for more than 1,000 yards.

This marks the 78th Hatchet game.  Dodge City leads 48-28-1 in the battle for the Hatchet and overall 71-43-3.  The series started back in 1907.  Pre-game coverage begins at 6:30 Friday night on Z98 and westernkansasnews.com.  Kickoff is at 7.
