Red Demons Open Fall Football Practice
Dodge City, KS(westernkansasnews.com) The Dodge City High School football team opened their Fall practice Monday morning.
Coach Dave Foster was pleased with the turnout saying they had over 100 kids out for the first day. Today’s morning practice focused on special teams along with offensive and defensive install. The evening practice will focus on offense and defense.
The Red Demons bring back nine starters from last year, three on offense and six on defense.
Leading the way on offense will be senior quarterback Dawson Williams who tallied over 2,000 total yards of offense and accounted for 28 touchdowns in 2016. Good enough to be named second team All-WAC.
Williams said he feels responsible to be a leader for the underclassmen and help make sure they understand the offense and also noted he has worked to improve as a passer this offseason.
Coach Foster also mentioned he has high hopes for the defense with six starters back and feels good about the positions they need to replace. The Red Demons return two first team all-conference defensive linemen in juniors Marcos Fisher and Evan Darville.
Dodge City will open the season Friday Sept. 1 at Wichita West and will hold their Watermelon Scrimmage on Friday Aug. 25. Listen to our full interview with Coach Dave Foster and QB Dawson Williams below.
