Dodge City, KS(westernkansasnews.com) Following Saturday mornings media day the Dodge City High School football team held a scrimmage.

The Red Demons just finished their first week of practice on Friday. Coach Dave Foster wasn’t surprised with anything he saw on Saturday. The Red Demons used five rotations on Saturday for their players and went through them twice.

Quarterback Dawson Williams didn’t do much passing last season, but on Saturday he showed improvement. Late in the scrimmage Williams hit sophomore WR John Johnson for a 21-yard touchdown. Williams continued to look good running the ball as well with several big runs.

De Jon Delgado made the play of the scrimmage with a 23-yard catch that he took away from a defensive back. Coach Foster said that now the depth chart is set he expects the offense to become more consistent this week.

The Red Demons will hold their Watermelon Scrimmage Friday August 25 at Memorial Stadium beginning at 3:30 p.m. The Varsity team will scrimmage at 6 p.m. Their season opener is Friday September 1 at Wichita West.
