Red Demon Sports Thursday Recap

Dodge City, KS(westernkansasnews.com) Thursday was a busy and productive day for Dodge City High School sports.

The Red Demon boys soccer team picked up a 4-1 win at Hays. Senior Mario Martinez led the way with two goals. Senior Joshua Donjuan and junior Josue Castillo each scored once. The Red Demons(6-0) are back in action Tuesday Sept. 19 when they host Garden City.

The volleyball team won a thrilling contest over Liberal in five sets. The lady Red Demons won the first game 25-15, lost the second game 25-20, won the third set 25-20, lost the fourth 25-16 and won the fifth and final set 15-13. It was the first conference win for the Dodge City girls in two years. The lady Red Demons are back in action Saturday in a tournament at Liberal.

The boys cross country varsity and JV teams took second at an invitational at Ft. Hays State Thursday. Sophomore Javier Marquez led the way winning his race. Eduardo Hernandez won the JV race. Cross Country runs again Sept. 21 at Goddard.

The girls tennis team competed in the Derby invitational on Thursday. Senior Leah Stein led the lady Red Demons finishing third in the number one singles. In the number one doubles Mireya Chacon and Kameron Lowery finished fifth. In number two singles Marissa Wissar came in fifth. In number two doubles  Victoria Garcia and Jordyn Trombley finished fifth. The girls tennis team is back in action Sept. 21 at Oakdale Park.
