DODGE CITY, Kan. — Dodge City High School has finalized a revised Varsity Football schedule for this fall. Entering the 118th season for Red Demon Football, the non-conference portion of the schedule features some new teams for the Red Demons. Dodge City will open at Memorial Stadium on September 4 against Kapaun Mount Carmel. The Red Demons have never faced Kapaun Mount Carmel on the gridiron, and will be inducting two new members into the Ring of Honor. Opening night will also feature a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the 1970 State Football Championship team.

In Week 4, the Red Demons face another Wichita private school – Bishop Carroll who will face the Demons for the first time since 1977 (a 15-14 Eagle victory in the KSHSAA playoffs). This will be the first time the teams have met in the regular season. All three games between the teams have been played in the playoffs, including a 1970 win by the Demons on their way to the State 4A Championship.

After a bye week, the Red Demons will play Ulysses for the first time since 2003 (a 12-0 loss
for the Red Demons). This will be the first game on natural grass for the Red Demons since
the 2012 playoffs at Manhattan.

The conference schedule will feature Garden City at home for the 83rd annual Hatchet Game.
The Hatchet Game has been moved to Week 3 in the new schedule – the earliest the game
has been played since JC Riekenberg’s first season as Head Football Coach in 1964. Homecoming has been moved to Friday, October 2nd versus Great Bend.
