Red Demon basketball teams split with Eisenhower
Dodge City, KS(westernkansasnews.com) The Dodge City High School basketball teams split with Eisenhower at home Friday night.
The Red Demon girls won 47-36. The Dodge City defense continued to play well holding the Lady Tigers(0-4) to just 29 percent shooting from the field. The Lady Demons(3-1) also had their best game so far this season taking care of the ball with just 13 turnovers and 14 assists.
Dodge City was led by freshman Kisa Unruh with 13 points. Junior Payton Magouirk had 11 points and Ezinne Okoro had 8 points and 7 rebounds. Madison Armstrong didn’t shoot well, but still contributed with 4 points, 6 assists and 4 rebounds.
The Dodge City boys fell 88-76 as Eisenhower pulled away in the last two minutes. The Red Demons trailed by four with two minutes to play before the Tigers closed the game on a 13-5 run.
Jeffrey Wake led the way for Eisenhower(4-0) with 33 points shooting 12-16 from the field and 5-7 from three. Hutchinson Community College commit Dylan Vincent overcame a slow start with 20 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists. The Tigers shot 56.6 percent from the field.
Noah Sowers had a huge night for Dodge City(1-3) scoring 29 points and dishing 5 assists. Dawson Williams chipped in with 11 points and 8 rebounds.
Both Dodge City teams are back in action at home Tuesday December 19 against Guymon. The Red Demons will be off until January after the Guymon game.
