Raymond Charles
Jetmore- Raymond (Ray) L. Charles, 84, passed away July 26, 2017 at Brookdale Senior Living, Dodge City, KS.
He was born June 30, 1933 in Barton County, Kansas, the son of Raymond W. and Lucile (Kay) Charles. A longtime area resident, he was a Farmer/Rancher and Truck Driver.
He was a member of United Methodist Church, 4-H Club Leader, Eagles Scout and received the Outstanding Young Farmer award, all of Jetmore. He enjoyed square dancing, loved racing and served in the United States Army.
On May 27, 1956, he married Audine Proctor in Dodge City, KS. She survives.
Other survivors include: three sons, Marc (Marcie) Charles and Rob (Angie) Charles, both of Dodge City, KS, Chuck (Patti) Charles, Sebastian, FL; daughter, Diane Caster, Garden City, KS; step brother, Ken Humphreys, Texas; step daughter, Carol Clark, Hoisington, KS; eleven grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, David Rehmert; two brothers, Frederick (Fritz) and James Charles and a step brother, Tuff Humphreys.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 am Saturday at the United Methodist Church, Jetmore with Pastor Cyd Stein presiding. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday with family present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Beckwith Funeral Home, Jetmore. Burial will be in the Fairmount Cemetery, Jetmore with military graveside rites.
