Rain pushes Hugoton game back

Columbus, KS (westernkansasnews.com)-Rain once again doing a number on the Babe-Ruth 18-and-under, state-baseball tournament. Hugoton was scheduled to play Riverton at 1 p.m. Monday afternoon, but a heavy downpour has pushed back the start time until 6 p.m. 

“We don’t ever make excuses because of the rain,” Hugoton coach Rusty Crites said. “But it does take us out of our routine a little bit. The other teams don’t have to travel as much as we do. We have to stay in the hotel and try and stay loose.”

Hugoton has never won a state championship at this level.
