Prominent marine to speak at GC Chamber Banquet(interview)
Garden City, KS(westernkansasnews.com) The Garden City Area Chamber of Commerce will hold their annual banquet on March 8. Tables and tickets are now on sale at gardencitychamber.net. The banquet is from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Horace Good Middle School.
This years guest speaker is retired marine Lt. Col. Robert J. Darling, Lt. Col. Darling was the White House Airlift Operations Officer who, during the attack on America on 9/11/01, responded to the underground White House Bunker Complex and stood shoulder to shoulder with America’s highest leaders as they made unprecedented crisis leadership decisions on behalf of all Americans. Darling wrote the book “Inside the President’s Bunker”.

Each year the Chamber recognizes its membership for their support and dedication to the community by bringing them together for a night of fine dining and entertainment. “There are so many things to be proud of in our community and our businesses are a big part of it”, said Myca Bunch, Chamber president. “The banquet gives us a chance to recognize and celebrate the wonderful accomplishments achieved throughout the year.”
In keeping with tradition, the Chamber will present the esteemed “Award of Merit” with this year being the 34th year of the award. The award will be kept secret from the recipient until the night of the event. We will also celebrate the “Ambassador of the Year” for that person’s contribution to the Chamber as an Ambassador.
For the 5th year, the Chamber will present 4 awards to recognize local businesses for their outstanding entrepreneurial achievements, successes and contribution to the community. Businesses and organizations will be recognized from 4 categories:
Small Business of the Year (1-20 employees)
Business of the Year (20+ employees)
Emerging Business of the Year
Non-Profit of the Year.
